"Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." ~ World Health Organization, 1948

The Saskatchewan Health Educators Association (SHEA) is a special subject council of the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation (STF). The general purpose of the special subject councils is to provide for professional development of its members through communication, inservice education, and improvement of curriculum.

Membership is open to any person with a supportive interest in health education. In accordance with the accepted requirements for STF Special Subject Councils, 50% of SHEA membership must be STF members. Also, SHEA operates under a constitution approved by its membership.

The annual conferences facilitate teacher preparation and professional development. Educators and health professionals through the province share ideas, update instructional material and distribute information. Teachers are assisted in developing strategies and processes that enable students to choose a health-enhancing lifestyle.

For SHEA Membership or Renewal, please see the SHEA Membership Application/Renewal Form.
