Decision Making

Overview of Concept

In K-9 Health Education and Wellness 10, students have opportunities to make decisions based on health-related knowledge. The process occurs several times throughout each school year and involves examining possible health opportunities and challenges for self, others, community and/or the environment, evaluating alternatives to address the opportunities/challenges, considering possible/expected obstacles and consequences, and identifying goal statements. Learning opportunities inform action to improve personal health and/or the health of others. At different grade levels, many interdisciplinary connections can be made, for example, to Career Education (Life and Work Plan).
