Impact of Violence on Health and Well-being
Overview of Concept
In K-9 Health Education and Wellness 10, students have opportunities to consider the difference between real and fictional violence and the influence of both on health and well-being, examine the impact of violence and cycles of abuse on holistic well-being for self, family, and community, and identify tragic death and suicide as distressing issues and supports that exist in the community to address these issues. Learning opportunities inform decision-making and action related to violence at home, school, and in the community. At different grade levels, many interdisciplinary connections can be made, for example, to Arts Education (Creative/Productive), English Language Arts (Comprehend and Respond), and Social Studies (Power and Authority).
